The first pastoral practice, and the one that centers all others, is the practice of "being rooted in the gospel." (1) We at Wartburg Theological Seminary suggest that this is marked in two specific ways: (1) that the pastoral leader "articulates the Gospel in a way that is heard as Gospel," and (2) that the gospel-rooted pastoral leadership within and for which Wartburg forms its students "is publicly Lutheran and Gospel-centered."
